These terms set out how lessons, memberships and courses work at Strums and Keys Academy. They are written in plain English, and the short version is simple: be fair to us and we will be fair to you.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the Strums and Keys Academy website, buys a program membership or a course, or books a lesson. By creating an account, booking or buying, you agree to them.
If you are booking for a child, these terms apply to you as the parent or guardian, and you are responsible for the booking.
You need an account to access programs, courses and resources. You must be 18 or over to register an account and make purchases. Accounts for students under 18 are registered and managed by a parent or guardian.
Keep your sign in details private. You are responsible for what happens through your account, so tell us straight away at hello@strumsandkeys.co.uk if you think someone else has access to it.
A program membership gives you access to the tier of your chosen instrument program that matches your stage, along with the lesson videos, practice material and monthly updates for that tier. Access continues for as long as your membership is active.
Membership is for one student. It cannot be shared between people, even within the same family.
Memberships are billed monthly, or annually at a reduced rate where that option is offered. Payment is taken in advance on the same date each billing period using the payment method you gave us.
Your membership renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. If a payment fails we will let you know and try again, and access is paused until the payment goes through.
You can cancel a membership at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep access until then. We do not refund part used periods.
When access ends, your progress record is kept for twelve months in case you return, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Courses are bought once and kept. Lifetime access means access for as long as we continue to offer the course, which we intend to be indefinitely. If we ever retire a course we will give at least six months notice and a way to download the material.
Like memberships, a course purchase is for one student and cannot be shared.
Private lessons are booked through the booking page and paid for at the time of booking. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay, including any block booking or sibling discount that applies.
A booking is confirmed once payment has gone through and you receive the confirmation email. For online lessons the meeting link arrives with that confirmation.
You can reschedule or cancel a lesson up to 48 hours before it starts, free of charge, using the link in your confirmation email. Rescheduled lessons are moved to a new slot that suits you, subject to availability.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice are charged in full, because the teacher’s time has been set aside for you.
If you miss a lesson without cancelling, the lesson is charged in full and cannot be rescheduled. If the teacher has to cancel, you will be offered a new slot or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
If you are running late, tell us and we will do what we can. Lessons still end at the scheduled time so the next student is not kept waiting.
Booking more than four weeks of lessons in one go attracts a block booking discount: 10 percent for in person lessons and 8 percent for online lessons. When two or more children from the same family learn with us, a sibling discount applies to every lesson: 15 percent in person and 10 percent online.
Where more than one discount could apply to the same lesson, the larger one is used. Discounts cannot be combined.
You have a 14 day cooling off period on memberships and courses under UK consumer law. If you change your mind within 14 days of your first purchase and have not yet used the material, we will refund you in full.
Once you have started watching or downloading course or program material within those 14 days, you acknowledge that the cooling off right is lost for that purchase. This does not affect your statutory rights if something is faulty or not as described.
Course and program material is for your own learning. You may not copy it, share your account, upload the material anywhere else, or use it to teach others, whether or not you charge for it.
Backing tracks, chord sheets and printables may be used in your own practice and performances. They may not be sold, redistributed or included in anything you publish commercially.
All material on this site, including videos, audio, written lessons and downloads, belongs to Strums and Keys Academy or is licensed to us. Buying access gives you the right to use it as described in these terms, not to own it.
The academy’s name and logo are ours too. Please do not use them without asking first.
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add a new way to learn. If a change affects something you have already bought, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
The version on this page is always the current one, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
