Guitar Beginners 1

About Course

This is where everyone starts, including people who have picked the guitar up before and put it back down again. Nothing here assumes you can already read music, keep time, or hold the instrument properly.

We spend the first lessons on the things nobody explains: how to hold the guitar so your wrist stops aching, how to tune it by ear as well as with an app, and how to press a string so the note rings out instead of buzzing. Get these right and everything after them is easier.

From there you learn three chord shapes. Between them, those three shapes cover an enormous number of songs, and by the end of this tier you will play a full song along with a recording rather than a set of exercises.

Beginners 1 is free and always will be. Work through it, see whether the way we teach suits you, and decide about the rest afterwards.
